Red Rope Theatre is a Bristol based company formed in 2012 and is dedicated to bringing celebrated plays and playwrights to a wider audience. We passionately believe that theatre is an experience that enriches and educates and should be accessible to as many people as possible.

We strive to create high quality productions that begin with exceptional writing and carry that quality through into every aspect of the show.

Great theatre can have an appeal across demographics and as a company we strive to tell stories which speak to their audience regardless of age or class.

Matt Grinter is co-founder and Artistic Director.

Matt has worked as a writer/director in both film and theatre and is currently forging a successful career within both media.

He trained at The Arts Institute on the Film Directing BA and then went on to get his Drama Directing MA at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

He was a 2015/2016 Open Session writer for Bristol Old Vic and his work has appeared in a number of prestigious venues accross Britain, earning him a number of accolades including a Kodak Award and an honorable mention at the New York Metropolitan Film Festival. His play Angel won The Lost Theatre Company's One Act Play competition.

His recent work includes writing for BBC Radio 4, Bath Theatre Royal, and winning the Papa Tango prize for his play 'Orca'.

"Matt Grinter's direction of the actors in his graduate show of Orphans was fine, detailed, and inteligent. He is a director to look out for." - Tom Morris

Rebecca Robson is one of the co-founders and producers of Red Rope.

Originally trained as an actress at Drama Studio London, Rebecca has also worked in other areas of theatre including stage management, production and writing. She has co-produced all Red Rope productions to date.
